How do I determine the version of a Cognex device driver?
Solution
There are several ways to get the driver's version information.
Cognex Dataman Software Download
- Cognex Installer: When you install the driver, the version information is printed out after the installation completes.
- Windows Explorer: You can use Windows Explorer to display the version information.
- Navigate to: c:windowssystem32drivers or c:winntsystem32drivers.
- Find the driver file of interest (vp8x00.sys, fg8100.sys, fg8120.sys, fg8100d.sys, fg8100l.sys, fg8500.sys, fg8600.sys, or cogdcam.sys).
- Right-click the file and select Properties.
- In the Properties dialog select the Version tab. The version information will be displayed there.
- Device Manager: In the Device Manager on Windows 2000 or Windows XP, you can select the Cognex Hardware class.
- Double-click the driver of interest.
- Click the Driver tab. The driver version information displayed on this page is actually the date and version of the cognexhw.inf file.
- Click on Driver Details... to display the version information for the driver.
