Driver education courses provided by Northeast Iowa Community College teach novice drivers the knowledge, driving skills and attitudes necessary to become safe, low-risk, responsible drivers. The class satisfies the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements and includes 30 hours of classroom instruction, six hours of behind-the-wheel driving experience and six hours of observation.

  • SCC Driver’s Education classes are certified by the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) for the Provisional Operator's Permit (POP's) and will waive the written and drive exam for 16 - 17 year olds. Note: a waiver is not available for drivers age 18 and older. 2021 Schedule - Lincoln, Beatrice, Crete, NE.
  • Driver Education Due to our ongoing situation with COVID-19, the Boise School District Driver Education Program will be temporarily modified. All 30 of the required classroom hours will be presented virtually.

To comply with Iowa law, students must attend all classes and scheduled driving sessions. Ensure your schedule is clear for the duration of the course; no exceptions. Students must be 14 years of age and possess a valid driver’s permit before the first class.

Driver education courses provided by Northeast Iowa Community College teach novice drivers the knowledge, driving skills and attitudes necessary to become safe, low-risk, responsible drivers. The class satisfies the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements and includes 30 hours of classroom instruction, six hours of behind-the-wheel. New drivers must complete a Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) approved Driver's Education Course consisting of a minimum of thirty (30) hours classroom instruction and six (6) hours behind the wheel instruction training. The Maryland driving school will electronically submit verification of completion to the MVA. Driver's education, driver education, driving education, driver's ed, or driving tuition or driving lessons is a formal class or program that prepares a new driver to obtain a learner's permit or driver's license.

Registration for courses may be completed online or by phone by calling 844.642.2338, ext. 1399. Note that registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Adult Driver Education is also available for students over 18 years of age. For more information on Adult Driving Lessons, please email goedkens@nicc.edu.

Students and/or parents should contact their school district business office to verify eligibility for financial assistance prior to registering for the course.
